Pattayapolisen gav bort hjälmar till Pattayas motorcyklister för Songkran. Polischef Pol. Överste Kullachart Kullachai och trafiktjänstemän delade ut hjälmarna framför Pattayas polisstation den 11 april, tillsammans med ansiktsmasker och handdesinfektionsmedel.
Kullachart sa att myndigheterna ständigt trycker på för att alla motorcyklister ska bära hjälm, eftersom motorcyklar är inblandade i mer än 80 % av alla dödliga trafikolyckor. Han sa att han ville påminna alla motorcyklister om att de alltid ska bära hjälm när de kör motorcykel.
För att fira Songkran gav Pattaya-polisen skyddshjälmar till cyklister och deras passagerare istället för biljetter för trafiköverträdelser. Det verkade som att det var fler cyklister utan hjälm än vanligt den dagen. Samtliga körde medvetet förbi polisstationen för att stoppas och få en skinande ny hjälm.
Polischefen utbildade också förare om de “10 bittra smakerna” av bilkörning som på thailändska kallas “Ro”, “Sor”, “Khor” och “Mor”.
“Ro” betyder att inte köra över hastighetsgränsen.
“Sor” innebär att inte köra mot rött och inte köra mot mötande trafik.
“Khor” syftar på att ha ett giltigt körkort, spänna fast säkerhetsbälten och inte vårdslöst köra om andra fordon.
“Mor” betyder att inte dricka och köra, bära hjälm, inte köra motorcyklar i förbjudna zoner och ingen användning av mobiltelefoner under körning.
Vi gillar deras annorlund taktik och detta får alla som tror Polisen bara är ute efter pengar att tänka om. Om detta bara räddar en person så har man gjort enorm nytta.
