I Fredags gick en test tur från Pattaya till Koh Samui med en kryssningsfärja med plats för fordon. Båtresan tar cirka 12 timmar i varje riktning och är planerad att avgå kl. 17.00 från Pattaya och anlända till destinationshamnen på Koh Samui kl. 08.00. Hur många avgångar man kommer ha varje vecka är inte klart. Man beräknar att starta verksamheten i slutet av September.
Båten är mer som ett kryssningsfartyg än en färja, med sittplatser som sträcker sig från ett fällbart säte på entréplan till en Liten Kupe, hela vägen till förstklassiga privata rum som nästan ser ut som ett hotellrum. Priser för de olika sätena, sängarna och rumstyperna men man tror att rummen kommer att ligga någonstans runt 3 000 baht för övernattningsresan.
Färjan snålar inte heller med faciliteter, med restaurang, spa- och massagetjänster och en mängd olika nöjesalternativ för nattlivet. Som en kryssning är båten fullt utrustad med en bar, karaokebar och ett diskotek. Att transportera en bil eller motorcykel är också enkelt, eftersom fartyget har två nivåer av parkering.
Testkörningen avgick från Pattaya på fredagen sent på eftermiddagen och anlände till fanfar i Koh Samui i går. En samling resebranschens proffs bjöds in till en invigningsgala ombord på färjan med en öppen bar, imponerande mat och livemusik för att fira lanseringen av den nya sträckan.
När reguljär trafik lanseras kommer färjan att gå mellan Chon Buri-provinsen från Chuksamed Pier i Sattahip och till Nathon Pier, den största piren i Koh Samui.
